Typical Case Analysis of Scaffolding Safety Accidents

Case 1: At 21:03 on December 31, 2012, a formwork support system collapse accident occurred during the construction of Shanghai Railway Jinqiao Parking Garage Building Project Overhaul Joint Depot, resulting in 5 deaths, 7 serious injuries, 10 minor injuries, and a direct economic loss of about 7 million yuan.

Case 2: At 11:30 a.m. on March 14, 2010, a partial collapse occurred in the formwork support system of the street crossing between the two exhibition halls of the Guiyang International Convention and Exhibition Center under construction.

Most of the accident causes occur in scaffolding installation, maintenance, and overhaul issues.

Accident type:

1. Overall destabilization of the scaffolding, causing the whole  scaffolding to collapse vertically.

2. Not erected according to the specified standards, causing the whole scaffolding to fall outward or inward.

3. Personnel fall from the scaffold due to incomplete protective measures.

4. Improper organization of construction, resulting in injuries caused by falling objects.

5. Accidents caused by various unexpected factors.
